Morning Ritual — 2.8.22

Even the most put-together celebrities need downtime.
The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theory, is that conspiracy theorists believe in a conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is actually chaotic. The truth is that it is not The Illuminati, or The Jewish Banking Conspiracy, or the Gray Alien Theory. The truth is far more frightening — Nobody is in control. The world is rudderless.
The kind of activity, the kind of chatter going on — these are the kinds of things that happen before other horrible events where people end up dying.
I lost my dream. I’ve been a bit sad. I’m allowed.
Add to all of this the early but growing body of science that is calling into question the damage that this technology is doing to things like freedom, our ability to focus and our overall consciousness and it makes you want to curl up with an old-fashioned book or magazine, doesn’t it?
If only I could find a guy who wasn’t in his seventies to talk to me about white cranes, I’d be madly in love.
As the pandemic stretches into year three and new variants of the virus roll across the country, yanking ever-harder on the fraying threads of our social contract, exhausted people nationwide are quitting the rat race in the face of endless crisis. A collective cry of carpe diem, and a fuck-you to late-stage capitalism.
Our values are simple: do no harm, take no shit and support the people around you. We support the people we love and even the people we don’t love — but we’ll give them a kick in the ass if we have to.
Gratification comes in the doing, not in the results.
Age is just a number.
Gather your long hair . . . this mad
disarray . . . it frightens the night.
